Preparing to Record

  • Be familiar with the technology.  Learn what your audio and visual resources are and how best to pirate them (e.g. PowerPoint)

  • Identify a place that will be best for recording. An ideal space will be:

    • Quiet enough to record with minimal interruptions

    • Natural lighting or the ability to control lighting

    • Have a space set up to record at eye level.

  • Outline your presentation so there is a natural flow as it is delivered.

    • Your oral presentations should be between 7-10 minutes in length.

  • Practice your presentation as if you were doing it in person.

  • Business casual attire is highly recommended.

Ready, Set, Record!

  • Speak clearly, and keep water nearby. Enunciate and stay hydrated to keep your voice strong.

  • Record your presentation multiple times so that you can select the final version and/or edit it.

  • Be yourself! This is your project – let your passion shine. It will also help ease any nerves.

  • Save your file in one of the following formats: MP4, M4V, MPG, WMV, MOV, AVI, WMA, M4A, AAC, MP3, MKV, MTS, FLV.

    • The maximum time is 10 minutes, and the size limit is 2 GB.

Recording Options

GoReact: As the hosting platform for the symposium, there is the ability to record, edit, and even add attachments that compliment your presentation.

Zoom: The person setting up the recording is the “host.” The recording can be saved to the computer or to the cloud (zoom.us)
